NOBODY describesRoberto Cavalli as shy or retiring. For spring/summer 2002, it was clear why, as thedesigner delved even further into the depths of extravagance. Models with big, freshly curled hairplayed the part of raunchy jungle queens, in tan suede peasant tops that fell off one shoulder totheir embroidered, elasticated waistbands, cropped high above floral chiffon skirts that burst into ruffled layers below the knee. Dresses were either tiny, baby doll flounces worn under cropped leather jackets or fox fur boas, or they came floor-length in flame bright chiffon withwaterfall frills that swung around the models' bare feet. Next up, Cavalli's signature seriously-sexy jeans. Tight as ever and even lower cut, they came in blue denim sprayed with goldleopard print, or super-shiny in metallic blue, tucked into moccasin boots and worn under whitecotton shirts that were tied over flat, brown tummies – the ultimate essential for Cavalli fans.
