Dolce & Gabbana

Carole King

  D&G - Spring - Summer - 2002

Dolce & Gabbana put colour firmly back on the catwalk at their Milan show on a catwalk white-washed but for a row of terracotta pots bursting with bright blooms, models appeared in a collection of voluminous slash-necked tunic dresses and multicoloured belts of woven ribbon or flame-bright sheer tops, some strapless, some swinging from elasticated halternecks and some hanging from one ruffled shoulder, tucked into tighter-than-tight indigo jeans. Floating amid the endless stream of blue, orange, red, green, turquoise, yellow and pink chiffon, there were some super-slick trouser suits. Jackets came cropped, bolero-style, over tight waistcoats and crease-front trousers with wide legs and deep turn-ups or relaxed and open over cotton shirts with wide, pointed collars and skinny drainpipes. Accessories were big, too: brightly striped satin trousers and garish floral-print chiffon dresses hung with black leather belts featuring "Dolce & Gabbana" in metallic lettering, while huge gold D's and G's dangled from the models' ears. With all the stars of the modelling world putting in an appearance, the famed Italian design duo couldn't fail to bring in spring/summer 2002 with a bang. (VOGUE)
