FOR the archetypal fashion experience, get yourself to a Dolce & Gabbana show. This Italian duo do nothing by halves, and backstage witnessed a miniscule Kylie Minogue and an Amazonian Gisele Bundchen complimenting one another on how "fantastic" they each looked. Kylie (who chose three different D&G outfits for the Brits) had been on the front row in a cropped vest reading "editor" and low-slung D&G jeans that revealed a red thong behind, as Gisele (a rare sight on the catwalk these days) opened the show, followed by Naomi Campbell. Two runway greats paying tribute to the titanic talents of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, who this season are prescribing a country retreat from all that. Called, "Rustic glamour" it comprises touchy-feely handcrafts and warm coffee colours, from creamy cappuccino to café noir. There's also a rich range of textures, in the rope belts and giant shoulder bags in fringed wool or leather weave, cords lined in chinchilla, studded suede jeans, chiffon rah-rah skirts, heavy Peruvian ponchos, and chunky hand-knits, sometimes interwoven with mink, or fur scarves. The label's signature three-piece suits promise to come into their own, too, with waistcoats already proving one of the top ten must-haves for autumn/winter 2002/3 (VOGUE) We Do Dolce & Gabbana
