Perhaps the most symbolic item of women's lingerie, the bra is the embodiment of femininity and seduction and as complex in structure as a work of engineering, in which many parts are combined in a variety of ways to produce a whole series of models. Bras differ on the basis of various factors, from the overall look to the shape of the cups and the proportion of cup to bust size. The same types of bra are used in bikini tops throughout the beachwear range. |
Classic bra
A universal model which suits all women since it supports and enhances all bust types. The cups cover the bust almost completely, the shoulder straps are central and the back of the bra is wide and specially shaped. Some classic bras have under-wiring and padded cups.

| Balconette bra Ideal for low-cut necklines, the balconette bra emphasises the décolleté, pushing up the bust and leaving the upper part uncovered. The shoulder straps are attached at the sides, the back is unshaped and narrower than the classic bra, while the cups are under-wired and, on some models, padded. |
Triangle bra
Both the neckline and cups are triangular. The shoulder straps are central and the back of the bra is unshaped and narrower. Originally designed for women with smaller busts, in recent years La Perla has launched triangle bras with internal support, making them easier to wear.

| Push-up bra
This type of bra guarantees a stunning bustline. The specially designed cups are angled to lift and centre the bust and show off the cleavage. Push-up bras are either fully padded or have padding at the bottom of the cups to create a rounder, slightly fuller bust. |
Bandeau bra
The bandeau bra has wider cups, a wider back and detachable straps or no straps at all. Many designs are edged with silicon to help keep the bra in place and make it more comfortable to wear. Ideal with off-the-shoulder tops and dresses.
